Knight Halsten Torleifssøn
Motto:
Aut inveniam viam aut faciam (I will either find a way or make one)
Familycrest:
, Gules, thre legs Argent
Re-created by: Egil Moe
Biography:
Egil Moe is a descendant of Halsten Torleifsons family. This was a norwegian family of high nobility that ascended in Norway in AD 1303 with its first knight Halsten Torleifssønn. Scientist Barney Young from the Isle of Man states that Halstein was the son of Torleif Haraldsønn and Magnhild, daughter of av Godred (Magnusson), dead AD1275, king of the Sudrøyene (the Hebrides) AD1265-66. Young conjectures from the family crest that Halstein descends from the royal house of Isle of Man, a house that sported the same coat of arms. Young further establish a hypothetical line of descent, where Halstein is the ancestor of all the subsequent Skanke-families in the Nordic countries.
